"The packaging is bomb proof, James Bond level of foam to keep the laser safe!!Setting up is two screws and one thumb screw, three USB cables, 1 to tower, 1 to the fan shield and the other to your PC. Add power and you're ready to goFire up the software and away you goSetting the correct height is easy (with or without the shield)... making a design is simple for beginning but to get really nice designs you should use Inkscape or another editing program and import. Not that there is anything wrong with their software, it just takes some getting used toThey do supply a dog tag and a piece of wood. The wood was bent so I chucked it and used some flat scrap wood...The dog tag didn't really take a design by itself so inused some engineering blue to hide the shine and it was fine... did a quick clip art engrave, 3 passes and it took 85 mins. Be prepared to sit and waitA simple business card will take 45 seconds per side if the design is simpleTips and tricks:1) when focusing for a business card I have the card outline as a line, this makes lining up simple... remember your line will be wider until you bring the laser down2) three taps on the top right button on the laser will turn it on and off3) you cannot have the machine USB connected and use blue tooth at thr same time. It's one or the other4) if you use wood, lower settings and many passes is better, it takes longer but you won't set fire to anything.... and this machine will burn wood so be carefulImprovements:1) having a way to set a business card outline (that I use for allignemt) NOT cut. I haven't found a way to set something in the software as just a reference line to not cut... so I stop the machine when it gets to that part.2) the phone app seems to have more settings for more materials than the desktop app... seems weird, but I could be missing somethingI'll add more when I use the machine for some more time. Basically it's got a decent cutting size 10cm x 10cm and it's simple to use, a little messing around to get the result you want but that's half the fun"
