"On receiving the WyzeCam v4, I was surprised that it came in two parts: One box obviously containing the v4 camera, the other bag containing the 20ft extension USB cable and additional cable management anchors. Which is fine to an extent, just looks cobbled together instead of one cohesive product and not a refined finished product. And the fact that it's a "white" extension cable added to a "black" WyzeCam v4, again, the issue of cohesiveness and consistency comes up. If its a black cam, a black cable would be more appreciated; if a white cam, white cable.Might not be an immediate negative, but at this day and age, a micro USB for power seems dated in technology, honestly. And if it breaks, finding a replacement will get harder and harder as time goes on. Pretty snug-fit covers to protect the connections though, making the cam and cable good for outdoor use if needed.Amazing color night vision, that just blew my mind. Very clear video, and interesting to see in the live view movement shown in boxes and identified.And that brings me to the cam wireless connection and "service plans". Despite being placed within 2-3ft of nearest WiFi/Mesh source, and dedicated power source, I've had instances of inexplicable "device offline". I don't know what exactly was causing it, but seems to have ironed out after a few hours. Bigger issue for me is the "service plans" it almost got me into, the options for which I've included a screenshot. I really don't appreciate that it tried to force a paid plan with no clear free plan (trial plan does NOT count). Be aware that you can avoid these displayed paid plans by clicking on the (X) at the top right corner.You can in fact use this WyzeCam without a subscription, albeit with limited functionality:Live streaming access from the Wyze app, smart automations, general motion Events, and no recordings but instead image thumbnails of Events (5min delay between unique events)Hard to want to get into the Wyze ecosystem of smart security, but that maybe my pre-existing investment into Ring system that has some integration with Samsung's Smartthings, Wyze is not compatible as far as I know, although the reverse could be said as well. If you already have pre-existing Wyze products, getting this cam is probably a no-brainer."
