They are wax potted. I did check it out thoroughly. I would buy again if I needed to be or was modding someone else's guitar."

These humbuckers are the best kept secret in affordable pickups. The baseplate on these is not the cheap brass you see on so many other pickups. They use some kind of nickel silver or as they call it "white copper" as is found on more expensive brands. It's also a rarity to find these color options on a quality Alnico 2 pickup. I measured the bridge pickup at 8.7k which puts it right in the neighborhood of a Burstbucker 3. The neck pickup also measures as described. Sound is everything you'd want from a medium-hot A2 pickup with plenty of chewyness and note separation. If you're expecting a very tight low end or attack you won't find it here but they sound huge with some overdrive. The output was so present I actually had to back them away from the strings a little more than I was expecting. For the price these are a steal.Anonymous

So far I have only used the bridge pickup in a super strat type guitar but it sounds great for lead playing with 80s tones. I'm able to get really good harmonics with this pup. Low end is not very tight so I wouldn't recommend these for tight chuggy modern metal but it sounds great for classic rock and 80's metal.jonathan mark
