"This doesn't have the best watercolor paper, but at least it has watercolor paper. Many "watercolor" workbooks don't. So that's a plus. That said, it's incredibly thin and smooth watercolor paper, so it will buckle and pills with too much water. It also dries incredibly fast since it's cellulose.The illustrations are nice and should be simple to replicate. Each image provides a sample watercolor palette for you to use as a guide. One nice touch is that it also provides a mini sketch for you to practice on before diving into the big illustration. The instructions are also more thorough than other watercolor workbooks I've seen.The overall presentation is pleasant as well. The cover is nicely designed and there's a thoughtful thank you card. It just feels better quality than similar watercolor workbooks that follow the same format. I think somebody new to watercolor, and even those more experienced, will be able to achieve decent results on this paper and will be able to build some confidence and learn to paint flowers with this book."

I paint in other mediums but have always shyed away from watercolor. Though I admire watercolor work and love the portability and affordability of the materials, watercolor always seemed to move too fast and be unforgiving of errors, unlike acrylics and oils. But this little workbook gave me the inspiration to try.I love to paint florals, so the lessons are my favorite subject matter. There are 12 lessons. Each has a line drawing already done. The instruction page for each shows the suggested palette and step by step process to develop the painting.The paintings are small and simple, so they're not intimidating. The paper is good enough to learn on, though it's definitely not museum quality.I really like this way of learning and plan to try more of these workbooks. This would make a nice gift for someone who, like me, has been hesitant to try the medium, or perhaps for an artist shut-in who needs to work on a small format due to limited space.susan reed
