"In terms of electrical installations, these lights are very easy to install. I would make some suggestions to Govee.1. Make the junction /splice box bigger. When bringing in your romex 14/2 w/gnd cable connecting it to the light and to another romex 14/2 w/gnd to go to the next fixture. It’s tight and difficult.2. Make the wires in the JB a little longer. That would make the previous comment easier or less of a problem.3. Make the cable between the JB and the fixture longer. That way one can easily install it to the nearest stud not every room is built the same and not everyone will install the light near a stud. This way if u install on a stud u can easily find it in the future for any needs. Versus placing it on the sheetrock and then having to cover it with insulation.4. These Govee downlights do NOT have the ability to do adaptive lighting with Govee app nor the Apple home app. Adaptive lighting means auto adjust color temperature of your light per time of day and location. If u want bright white in the morning and at night the soft white and late night soft yellow dim, you have to do it manually or program it yourself.5. Matter but NOT Thread over matter. Govee does NOT promote Thread over Matter on their devices so it’s not me saying they lied. It’s a suggestion to start developing the use of thread over matter protocol to lighten the load on people’s wifi.6. This is a disappointment suggestion, but if you choose to use the border rim light function with the downlight function at the same time, you lose ALOT OF LIGHT POWER! 100% brightness goes WAY WAY DOWN. In that scenario 100% looks like 40% of when u dont use the rim light. FIX THIS GOVEE7. Second disappointment that needs a fix. If u control the lights with Apple Home you can only use the lights with the border light on. Meaning ur max brightness is really like the 40% previously mentioned. You must use the Govee app to individually control the downlight separate from the rim light. I was expecting two lights in Apple Home per light fixture installation. PLEASE FIX GOVEEGood things are:The lights are super bright (if you dont use the rim light) which I love! You can adjust to so many colors. It has the border rim option to adjust color as well. it looks really slick when installed properly. Has matter protocol which is awesome for smart home enthusiasts (but i much rather have Thread over Matter). The quality for the cost is great. Great pricing in my opinion.3 stars for now cause I am a little annoyed at a couple of things but overall I like them a lot.Right now I feel like i rather pay a bit more for the Philips Hue equivalent because of adaptive lighting feature even tho Hue does not use Matter. But if you already own a Hue Bridge then you will be ok.GOVEE please fix the lighting brightness issue with rim light usage, fix the issue where I cant control Rim light separate from downlight in Apple Home. And ADD Adaptive lighting. All this can be fixed for existing owners through a firmware update so when done, I will change my review to 5 stars!"
