"If I could give this ladder negative stars, I would. In my opinion (and experience) it is EXTREMELY UNSAFE, owing to the poorly designed tray mechanism which does NOT lock into place effectively at all. If you need it to rest a few screws, bolts, lightweight tools, fine. A full 1 gallon paint can, no way! In fact, I fell forward off this ladder just last week and banged myself up pretty badly for having leaned forward and rested even lightly against the tray in upright position as I was reaching up to install a ceiling light. As another reviewer said, the tray does not lock into place! It is just slightly stiff when fully upright. I would not use it again with the tray up; it is just too dangerous in my opinion. Yet the tray feature was exactly what drew me to buy this ladder in the first place! Yes, it is fairly tall for a lightweight ladder with 5 steps in total. One of the product photos shows a 660 lb gorilla on the ladder -- no way would this be safe for a human even half that size. Another product photo shows a CHILD sitting on the top step of the ladder just below the tray -- also extremely unsafe; I would never let a child on or near this ladder. Another product photo shows a man leaning at least his left hand against the side of the tray. That amount of pressure or less is exactly what I did and fell forward to the ground! Finally, the folding mechanism of the ladder requires the steps to fold forward and down. There is no fully open crossbar locking the ladder open like on standard A-frame ladders. Though this hasn't happened to me, it would be quite easy to step too far close to the edge of a step, causing the step to collapse down and pull the rear supporting rail forward -- again, because there is no locking horizontal crossbar in the open position. The concept is good, but the safety of this ladder leaves much to be desired. Avoid it!"
