Bought these to replace the cheepo plastic variety. Absolutely perfect. They're solid pliers, lock and release easily, don't mash up the hose or line at all (always a concern with pinch-offs). And for $25 you'd be hard pressed to find better or get more value for your money. Pinching off a radiator hose is a bit much, but that's true regardless of brand, you'll always get a little drip drip from something that large. For brake lines, fuel lines, vacuum hoses, etc... they work perfectly.about the details

Being a novice mechanic, breaking out tools only when absolutely necessary, I tried to replace a fuel filter under my small Kubota tractor with only vise grips. I ended up clamping on a nipple end of the fuel pump and cut the hose. I could barely get two arms in the area so I was trying to use the vise grips with one hand and got too close to the pump. Fuel poured down my arm. Well, the old filter didn't seem to need replacing with the amount of fuel coming out. I managed to replace some hose there and got the fuel filter replaced. It would have been so much easier with the correct hose clamps. (I did put electrical tape over the vise grip jaws.) I haven't needed to use these yet but they look sturdy enough for my occasional use for sure.rick h
