"My Naturopath has often recommended a THORNE product as she believes the company strives for high quality supplements/product. I've taken a few of their products because of her confidence.I take a variety of supplements (for decades) based upon (reading) research, hope, and hype. With so many different brands and slight detail changes, most of us don't know for sure IF this-or-that is truly helping our bodies... Some supplements; yes -- but, for me, I don't really know about most of them. HOPE.When I ordered these, I keyed into the word probiotic (more than the "woman" term...even though I am). I was motivated to try this good-reputation brand to help gut-health - more as a "hope" and as a "healthy thing to give my aging gut" even though I'm not aware that my gut isn't healthy.I've been taking a much lower-priced probiotic tablet and will now start with this (over $1 a day) Thorne capsule. I'll report back after the month with any differences noticed. (beyond hope).What I didn't read before is that this product is supposed to also be helpful for the vaginal and urinary tract health. (Not that I have any known issues with either... again... I'll provide feedback when or if I notice any changes positive or negative)One ingredient caught my attention that felt confusing. MALTODEXTRIN. Why is THAT needed in a probiotic supplement? From what I have read...it is a simple sugar, also a thickener, also something that athletes may take before working out/competing as it supplies glucose to the body for the demand to fuel up on carbs without feeling full. Maltodextrin also helps preserve muscle glycogen. These post-workout supplements can provide a quickly digestible fuel while not dehydrating you, and can directly impact an endurance athlete's performance. It can also spike blood sugar so temper use for diabetics and those with high blood sugar. The bottle provides no "amount" of Maltodextrin - just the first ingredient listed as "Other".I still buy into that THORNE is a good company and I will take it and HOPE that I notice any positive feedback. Either way, I'll be back in a month!"
