"Plug-and-play. Works great, but there is one physical design flaw. While the aluminum heat covering/sink looks nice and may help dissipate heat on the central unit, it adds a few mm gap to each SATA port, preventing the cables from snapping into place. Therefore, a slight pull on each cable would pull them out of the port. Not ideal. To remedy this, take out the heat covering to make this a solid fit for each port. Crossing fingers this won't fry the unit in the long run.One caveat is that on a cold boot startup (not a restart), the device will take about one minute extra to load up the drives before going into Windows, etc. Finally, I wish there is a way to turn off the green LED lights for each port."

I bought this to add additional SATA drives to my Unraid Server. The first thing I noticed is that this is a quality, durable-feeling adapter, as opposed to the others I found while shopping which looked very flimsy. With the metal encasement around the SATA ports, there's really no risk of bending or breaking one of them which others reported as an issue with some of the other adapters. I installed 2 additional IronWolf drives and a SSD for a secondary cache drive, and everything works great so far and registers at the full 6GB/s speed. I'll update this review if I run into any issues, but so far everything works great and the installation didn't require any additional configuration in the Unraid OS.mihai
