"Really nice looking cast iron skillet. This is a mid-tier cast iron pan and priced accordingly. A step above their heavier commonly found box store products.Thinner and lighter - more like older vintage Griswold's etc. Weight reduction is noticeable.Has pour spouts - big plus in my books. The redesigned, cooler to the touch, thinner handle. I like it. Some say it is uncomfortable to hold; when moving heated cast iron I grab both handles with padded oven mitts or holders - to me it works just fine. I prefer it as it saves weight and looks more elegant.Triple seasoning - I LOVE IT. I only needed to add two more coats of seasoning for a total of five THIN layers - My personal sweet-spot for breaking in cast iron. BIG HELP and timesaver there.Cooking surface - a small step above and smoother than their less expensive offerings, but not as smooth as high end iron from makers like Smithey, Field, or vintage Griswold, Wagner, etc. This pan is mid-tier priced, so yeah, not perfect.Overall I find this 12 inch Lodge Blacklock skillet to be excellent for its price. Very happy to add it to my collection, so it gets my recommendation. Look forward to more offerings from the blacklock line - how about a modern version of the vintage iron waffle makers?"

I’ve tried a few cast iron pans over the years, but the Blacklock line hits different. This one came beautifully pre-seasoned—actually usable right out of the box, which hasn’t always been my experience with other skillets in this price point. The seasoning is smoother than standard Lodge and much easier to cook with from the start.I got the 10.25”, were a couple and it’s the ideal everyday size for us—big enough for a steak or shakshuka, but still manageable to lift and clean. And speaking of lifting: it’s noticeably lighter than traditional cast iron, which I seriously appreciate and is the reason why I went with this line. It still has that solid, heirloom feel, just without the wrist workout every time I move it off the stove. The triple seasoning holds up really well. I’ve scrambled eggs in it with no sticking, and seared meat with great crust and flavor. Cleanup is easy. If you’ve been hesitant about going full cast iron because of the weight or maintenance, this is the one to go for.

It is lightweight and perfect size for frying an egg or a pancake. I saw others had a problem with sticking so I seasoned it myself and have not had problems with food sticking to it. It is very rough, even the cooking surface. Seems like it should be finished better than it is- the seasoning and the roughness. I wouldn’t attempt to cook in it without seasoning it yourself.

Fabulous! I needed a high quality pan with the convenience handle, pouring thingies on the side, and not too heavy. I got all that, plus a really nice pre-seasoning that allowed me to use it right out of the box. I’m thrilled.
