"Only made it to 55% before calling it quits. Most of what I managed to get through was an absolute slog to read. In the most of the first half of the book the perspective changes so frequently it’s almost impossible to get invested in either character. To make matters worse both of the main character barely display any emotion at all. The female protagonist has lived in isolation for 10 years but doesn’t show any type of emotional reaction towards it. The male protagonist had everything he knew in life taken from him at the age of 20 but again shows no emotional reaction, there wasn’t even a period of grief or lashing out. I tried to write these chapters off as a prologue and continued with the story in the hopes that the second half would be worth while but the story immediately got awkward. The protagonists agree to travel together almost immediately after meeting each other, quickly confide there possible life threatening secrets to each other, and unsurprisingly start a sexual relationship. It was beyond frustrating read 12 chapters of poorly written back story only to have the main characters meet and basically fall in love in only 3 chapters."
