"Although this is a "Sugar Free" product, don't be tricked that sugar-free means cavity free. It will lead to cavities over time (assuming you don't brush your teeth well) because it does have citric acid. That is what helps give it its sweet flavouring.The product works very well because it is a fine powder version of psyllium husks -- the go to item when you want to provide excellent fibre source into someone's diet. Unlike raw psyllium husks, however, this is mixed with a very tasty flavour. What you sacrifice though is fibre efficiency. Raw husks absorb water much better and become a better jelly substance in your stomach than Metamucil, which is what is needed to make you feel full and help reduce cholesterol. The issue with raw husks is its has a very clumpy tastes -- like pulp. So Metamucil solved that by making it into a powder and giving it a flavour.The flavour I got is identical tasting to the orange drink: Tang, if anyone remembers that. It's an incredibly taste drink. So bravo to this manufacturer.The sugary taste isn't too much. It is just right. So definitely stick with "Sugar Free". I've tried their real sugar version and its way, way too strong. And i have a sugar tooth so if i think that is strong it's way too much.For me, i mix this with raw husks to get the best of both worlds: taste and performance.Overall, this is an excellent product. But be sure to take it a few hours before a meal. It's more effective that way in your body. Taking it at the same time as meals isnt as effective. The goal is for the jelly substance to build in your stomach and bowels before a meal. If you take it during a meal it doesnt have time to build since your food is processed much quicker, defeating the purpose of Metamucil.The only other concern is when taking vitamin supplements and/or medications. Metamucil can potentially render them ineffective because it can absorb them for removal from your body instead of allowing your body to absorb them instead. Yikes. So one has to be careful when to take metamucil. Just a thought"
