"Got this to use with my Motorola 9 pin serial that requires a RIB box to rear and write to the radio (Motorola XTS5000)Installation is super easy. Plugged it into my Windows 11 laptop and the drivers was automatically installed and assign a com port. The cable is well made with some good strain relief on the end of the connectors. Length wise it's longer than what I needed but that's not a cons. Haven't tested this in the older windows machine so I can't tell if it works or not but so far it works great on my Windows 11 laptop and Windows 10 desktop. So anything older than that, you might have a compatibility issues.Like I had mentioned before. It works with the Motorola programming cable without the need for a RIB box. No issues on connectivity even after I disconnect the cable and plug it in again into another USB port."

It’s just a cord, but it’s the kind that saves you from driver nightmares and cheap‑chipset failures. The FTDI chipset is the real reason to buy this one — Windows 10 and 11 pick it up instantly, no hunting for drivers or messing with COM port weirdness. The DB9 connector is solid, the USB end feels sturdy, and the cable doesn’t kink or feel flimsy. If you’re working with older hardware, microcontrollers, or anything that still speaks RS232, this is the kind of adapter that quietly does its job and never gives you a reason to think about it again.michael d heit

I purchased this after the two others that I had been using from other manufactures stopped working due to driver obsolescence (frustrating). I also went to Walmart and the kid in the electronics department had no clue what I was talking about ("serial to USB, what's that?" -- sheesh). So, found this and it works great, exactly what I needed.highly engrossed

I had been using an old Vista laptop to connect to an electronic device in my homebuilt aircraft. With the Black Friday deals going on, I bought a nice HP windows 10 laptop and upgraded it to Win 11. So far, so good. Unfortunately, when I tried to hook my new computer to the device with my old usual USB to Serial cable, there was no connection. Rats. So, I went through all the usual stuff. Looking for obscure drivers, driver unloaders, etc., etc. Finally, on an avionics forum, someone mentioned this cable. I got it right away and went to the FTDI chip site for drivers and downloaded their latest update Win 11 driver package for my HP. Then after all that, bingo! It connected just find and I am now able to download all my flight and engine information. Now I can put my old Windows Vista laptop back on Ebay.william mead
