"I have used NOW Ubiquinol (Kaneka) for over two years. The price is excellent and the quality seemed good and comparable to other brands of supplements I've used. On my last order I received a bottle with a bad odor, to be precise it stinks of fish. I contacted customer support at NOW today and the representative brushed off my concern and connected me with their nutritionist to discuss the product's ingredients. The nutritionist didn't know why I was bringing the matter to his department, but agreed that the Ubiquinol should not smell of FISH, and reconnected me with customer service to get them to handle the issue properly.Customer service returned to the phone and reluctantly took the Lot #, confirmed that it was a legitimate NOW product, and told me they would check their reference sample from that Lot to see if there was a problem. I told her that it didn't matter what their reference sample showed, there would still be a problem with the bottle I had received. I told her that I expect a company committed to quality would want to examine MY BOTTLE after having me return it to them. She told me to get a refund from Amazon because "they have your money". NOW was not interested in examining my bottle.I am growing increasingly concerned about the quality of the supplements I am taking, especially when buying them from Amazon. This experience with NOW only increases my concern. Where are ingredients sourced? Who is providing quality and purity testing? Where are they really manufactured and who takes responsibility for all of the above? NOW does not want to take responsibility for this "off" product and says take it up with Amazon. That's unacceptable, especially in an unregulated industry."
