"I thought this book was going to be the answers to all of my photography questions and get me in manual mode once and for all. I'm very disappointed on the vague explanation of the exposure triangle. I'm even more disappointed at the exercises and their explanations as to why things work the way they do. "Regardless of your camera and regardless of the lens you're using set the lens opening to number 5.6. Place your subject against the house or some six to eight food shrubbery. Now look through the view finder and focus on your subject. Adjust your shutter speed until the light meter indicates correct exposure in the viewfinder and take the photograph. You've just made manual correct exposure" ok but why f5.6? Is this how I'm supposed to take every picture - set lens opening to 5.6 and adjust until correct exposure? The majority of the time I do this any ways the photo doesn't always come out "right" or it's blurry or it's grainy so what am I missing? I also like that the photographer explains all of his settings for each picture but it's so frustrating that it teaches me nothing. Oh your shutter speed was 1/400? That's great but how does that teach me anything. This book has left me more confused than when I opened it and had also left me nervous of manual mode all together. I guess I just thought this book would explain more than it does."

Bryan Peterson is a photographer who not just knows his stuff, he also knows how to bring it across in an accessible and easy to follow writing style. Given the rapid advances in camera technology some of the advice may seem a bit outdated, but the basic messages remain true. Excellent value for money compared to other photography guide books, too.andrewh69

Excellent: The first 7 pages describe the author's entry into and journey so far in photography. The lessons start on page 8; by the bottom of page 9 I had found the answer, the reason I bought this book. 159 more such pages to go - can't wait to read each of them. What Customers Talk About
