"This is my first comprehensive wx center. I have used many of the simple temp/pressure/humidity centers over the years, but this set really beats the heck out of those. The all in one sensor suite is really easy to mount as everything is together on on pole. Outside placement is a bit critical for good data so try and keep it away from obstructions and buildings if you want good wind measurements. A word of warning on placement, since the outside unit runs on batteries, be sure and mount it where you can get to it. Also, it requires cleaning of the water sensor every few months. About the batteries, it says to use lithium batteries for best operation, but it comes with alkaline batteries. Seems a bit contradictory. In addition, I thought the solar panel would provide operating power and recharge power for the batteries, wrong guess. The panel is just for 'aux power'. The manual does not really say how it is used. It would have been so much better to make the panel a tad larger and let it recharge the batteries to reduce maintenance. Setup and operation are very easy. If the calibration is good out of the box (check by placing both indoor and outdoor sensors inside for an hour and check agreement) just mount the outdoor unit securely and set the time and you are good to go. Once powered on, they connect and sync rather quickly. A lot of information is packed into this small kit. I really like the dual indoor displays because you can put one in a common area and the other in a study or bedroom. This is a good set for the casual weather watcher."

This is my first comprehensive wx center. I have used many of the simple temp/pressure/humidity centers over the years, but this set really beats the heck out of those. This weather station is awesome for anyone who wants to know all the details of the current weather in their area.The one i'm reviewing came with two monitors that are clear, color coded, easy to read and easy to setup/program for your area. Both connected to the main unit at over 150 feet away, and the atomic clock antennae or "NIST" over 100 miles away without any issues. they both also detect the current room temperature precisely and accurately. and is wall mountable with a single slide in screw slot on the back.The main measuring unit itself is light, of a well made molded plastic that is pretty tough and precise with a wind speed propeller, solar cells, rain collection cup that drains itself, wind direction vein, barometer and much more, both the unit and the displays have battery backups to save your settings in case of power loss or low light conditions. It even has a level on top to ensure that you mount it correctly.It comes with a warranty card and very clear instructions that tell you everything you need to know from intial setup to maintenence and how to contact AIRAIN TECH for any problems.Mounting this thing is a breeze and can be mounted in several different ways including screwing it down to a flat surface or clamping it to a maximum 2" pole using included 2" m5 screws and nuts.... I mounted mine to a 3" pole using zip ties wrapped around inside the screw holes and it clamped very stable and securely since i couldn't find 3" m5 screws and nuts locally, so when i say multiple mounting options, I wasn't kidding...I could harp forever about how awesome this thing is, but i think you get the picture. So if you want a weather station that will tell you virtually anything you want to know about your weather with zero effort this particular one is certainly a great buy.katrina2000

This weather station has much more than I ever anticipated. First of all, you get two displays. I'm not sure where I would put the second one, but now I have a backup screen just in case. Everything was packaged to perfection. The readings, to the best of my knowledge, are accurate. Getting the sensor to connect to the screen was seamless. Setting up the system, was a pain. The buttons are not intuitive at all and most of them are hard to press. A little more thought could have gone into that part of it. Pro tip: Put the batteries in the screen before setup. If you don't, all your hard work will have to be repeated if you lose power or decide to move it after setup.I sent my husband into the yard to hold the unit up on a windy day, cold too. We don't really have anywhere to mount the unit but have decided to put it on a pressure treated 4 x 4 in the back yard. Sadly, the ground was frozen solid, thus I asked hubby to help me out by holding it. It will be permanently installed once the ground softens. It still worked just perfectly, detecting the wind speed, gusts, direction, barometer and temperature. It hasn't rained here in weeks, so we couldn't test the rain gauge but I have to think it will work just as well. The display updated frequently and never lost connection. And I love that the sensor unit has a solar panel to keep it going. No plug required.I would totally recommend this to a friend.truth seer

This is my 3rd weather station with a wind speed indicator, and I have yet to have 2 that agree. I currently have a different Arrain Tech weather station for my house, and that one is pretty accurate. This one, like my last one, shows a slower wind speed by about 10%. It's not a huge deal, once I know the error rate I can compensate, but it is something to be aware of.Otherwise, this system is really nice. Having dual displays is not something I thought would be important, but being able to see the weather from my upstairs room in addition to having the display downstairs is a nice bonus. We haven't had much rain since I deployed this one next to my primary system for testing, but temp, humidity (indoor and outdoor), as well as wind direction and rain amounts line up really well when compared side by side. The only reading that was off was the wind speed.I'm also not a huge fan of the plastic mount. I would recommend picking up a metal mount for it. They are not that expensive.What Customers Talk About
