"Had it not been for the "Add Friends" option this product would have been given a 5* rating. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever as to why one should add anybody else's devices to this, unless it is immediate family that live together.A bit like some of those Social Media platforms, once one adds friends an unknown entitty then gets access to those friends devices and "without" permission one can steal media content with no restrictions. This is a serious vulnerability that should not be part of any product demanding this type of function is used.Adding friends is pointless, unless one wants to invade their privacy at times. If one really, really wants a copy of a photo or short video clip one can always request the friend sends it via email and then one can copy it to one's desktop.Another thing I don't like, neither does my Firewall, is that this product wants to use one's wifi? It was a bit of hassle to begin with, just to connect this to the PC as the settings were defaulted for this to not be discovered. Only when I found that setting and changed it did my PC detect and recognise it.Once the PC registered this, all in around two to three seconds, it was plain sailing from there. One simply opens the DCIM folder for this device then one can drag images / videos from one's folders to the device's DCIM folder. It is as easy as that. So, after a little bit of faffing around I finally got some images on the display. However, I still can't connect this to my Smart Phone. For some reason this product simply does absolutely nothing when a USB cable is connected to it, from a Smart Phone. I tried both USB A to USB C and UBB C to USB C data cables and nothing. What this product seriously lacks is BT (Bluetooth). Had this have had BT then one could easily connect Smart Phones to it and upload as much content as one would like.Although I haven't used it yet, there is a memory card slot so one can upload images / videos to a memory card and disply directly from it. However, the reason I haven't used the slot yet is because I only have micro SD cards, with adapter and all are 1TB in capacity. Given the technology in this product (lack of) I doubd that it will support 1TB cards and therefore it's likely to corrupt them. Additionally, as my PC's Firewall isn't too excited about having this connected to my network there is a chance that this product is uploading content to unknown servers. Using a micro SD card from a phone won't only give unknowns access to images and videos but the memory card will have much more data stamped on it, such as info about one's phone etc. If one has images / video that was taken whilst one's phone had "Location" active images / videos will be stamped with locations, dates and times thus one's privacy is out of the window. With that type of data unknowns can trace one's past movements over a long period of time.Once uploaded the picture quality is OK, it's not the best but it passes. In the settings one can change the speed of the slideshow and set the images to fill the whole screen. By default this was set out 30s per image, which is far, far too long. I reduced it to 15 seconds and it is still too slow. So, I changed the timing again to 5s per image and that's about right and it is the lowest amount of time one can set this to. If left at the default setting and if one uploads 200 images via a memory card it will take over 1.5 hours to get to the last image. So, if you do purchase this it would be wise to change the timings. The device is well made and strong. Sadly though I can't recommend it due to the privacy issues and the lack of Bluetooth. Although it works fine I don't find it good value as like those Social Media platforms, that are basically legal spyware machines that harvest data from not only the user but also the added friends, I can't think of any other reason why unknowns would want users to add friends to a list and give the product permission to harvest friend's data as well other than some form of malice. For this product to get a recommendation from myself it first has to improve connectivity, including having BT (Bluetooth) capability. Secondly it has to get rid of the "Add Friends" and only allow local data to upload to it, including one's Smartphone, tablet or laptop."
