"I've been using the SP31 for three months now and I wanted to provide my thoughts. This is my first tactical flashlight from Sofirn but I have other lights from Sofirn, a couple of SC31, SC29 and a SP40. In general I find all my lights from Sofirn to have great quality in the materials and the build. The SP31 continues with that trend.Material and Build- The machining of the parts are very clean. No rough edges and the threads are all smooth and clean. The anodization looks to be very durable and has a consistant finish. After 3 months of use and being tossed around, there appears to be no wear. How's it Feel- The design of the battery tube knurling provides a secure fit in my hand while being comfortable. It comes with a clip which worked well for pocket carry. This may be nit picky but I would have liked to have the clip just a few millimeters closer to the end of tailcap. It's not that it extremely low and compared to my other EDCs the clip is in the same spot but since this is a tactical light it has about 10mm extra on the tailcap for the button. Not a big deal, just sticks out my pocket more when using the clip.Battery Runtime and Charging- I purchased the light with the 18650 battery included. I usually run on medium or high depending on what I'm using it for. With that type of usage, I get about 4 - 6 hours of run time. I rarely use turbo as it gets hot pretty quick and drops down the output after about a minute. In the 3 months I've been using it, I've only charged it 4 times. I haven't timed it but it does seem to take a while to charge. It's definitely more than a couple of hours, maybe 3 hours to charge. I've been meaning to do a comparison to my other 18650 Sofirns to see how they line up. Like their other lights, there is a USB-C charging port on the flashlight itself.Output and Beam Pattern- The color temp is listed as 6000K but it seems lower to me, more around 5000 - 5500K. I have nothing to measure so this is just a visual comparison to my other lights and the fact that I usually find something inbetween warm and daylight to be comfortable for most my situations. The upper edge of daylight into cold for long periods of time wears on my eyes.- Definitely not a flood pattern. It has a good size hot spot but not a lot of spill outside of that due to the TIR optic. It seems to have good throw for this size light with a SST40 emitter paired with the TIR optic. The UI- The combination of the side and tail buttons work pretty well, with the side button basically selecting the mode and the tail button being the main on/off, with mode memory so you don't have to cycle through modes on the side button every time.Overal Impression- I really like the functionality and quality of the light. For the cost ($35 when I purchased it), I think it's a great value. Would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a tactical light or just a good buy in general."

I got this Sofirn SP31 to replace an old Wurkkos I had that stopped working. I've been using it every day for a couple of weeks now, and am pleased to report that I'm extremely happy with my purchase. Here's why I say that:Pros-----* Incredibly bright, providing a tremendous amount of true white (no blue or green tinge) light* You can easily switch between four different brightness levels using a dedicated button. You can also activate an even dimmer mode, moonlight, by pressing the power and brightness buttons at the same time.* LED on the brightness/mode button indicates how much battery life is left. Green = 70% to 100% full. Red = 60% to 30% full. Blinking red = Less than 30% full. How cool is that?* I haven't had a chance to fully run the battery down yet, but battery life seems incredible so far. The instruction manual says that it should last 550 hours on moonlight, the absolute lowest setting. I look forward to testing this when I have the time.* VERY solid build quality of aluminum; it feels like it should last darned near forever, assuming you take care of it.* USB C charging. It can charge its own 18650 battery, meaning that you don't have to keep a dedicated lithium battery charger around if you don't want to.* Really comfortable, convenient size to carry in one hand.* Comes with a sturdy pocket clip to make it easy to tuck it into shirt or pants pocket, or attach to a backpack.* Environmentally friendly/green, because it uses a standard 18650 lithium battery that can be easily replaced. Unlike many tactical flashlights today, you don't have to throw the whole flashlight away when the battery inevitably wears out.* Comes with a USB A to USB C charging cable, in case you don't already have one. This wasn't strictly necessary, but was a really nice touch.* Comes with a genuinely useful and informative instruction manual, which is nearly unheard of these days. Great job, guys!Cons-----* I normally try to list at least one problem or issue that I have with an item, but I'm really struggling here. This little Sofirn SP31 is probably the most perfect tactical flashlight that I've ever used. No complaints.dzde3n0

The flashlight is high quality and bright especially for the price. The LED is nice and gives a nice color tint. It gives a great bright hot spot that throws a good distance. The user interface is different from any other flashlight I have tried and will take some getting used to. On/Off is only from the tail switch and the tail switch. On/off is last brightness and moonlight only. There is no way to immediately access turbo (unless was last brightness), which is strange for a “tactical” flashlight. Strobe can be easily accessed from on but not off, which is good if walking with light already on and want to use but not if want immediate access from off.c s

Nice little flashlight with a potent beam. I like the two button system because you can easily find the rear button if you need to in a hurry and the side button is easily operated to change the brightness modes. It throws the light in a fairly tight hot spot beam while also spreading plenty of light to the sides so you can see where you are walking and what may be beside you.I have been using Sofirn flashlights for several years and the quality to value ratio is very good.It is also small enough to use as an EDC pocket light and quite useful for almost all situations. It has a good, well respected led and a replaceable battery that can also be charged in the light with a common USB cord. I do like, and recommend, this flashlight as a good value. Do be careful as it's a rather high power flashlight that can get fairly hot from extended use in the higher modes.sw

The Sofirn SP31V3 is a great compact tactical flashlight with most of the features of a premium light but at a budget friendly cost. The fit and finish are great, with a matte finish and ridges and knurling in appropriate places for good grip, and it fits well in the hand.. The light also comes with a one way pocket clip ( a two way would be better) and a wrist strap for carry options. The SP31V3 is controlled by a very user friendly two button system which control a simple user interface which includes a memory feature to the last setting.. The tail cap (which also includes momentary on by partial press) turns the light on with full press, and then the sturdy metal button near the head scrolls through the modes, including lo/med/hi/turbo. Holding that button will take you into the strobe menu, which includes Strobing/SOS and Beacon. You can also get to moonlight mode from Off by holding the body button and pressing the tail cap. All of this interface is very intuitive and easy to use. This light works with an included 18650 battery and uses USB C charging, through the port on the barrel (underneath rubber flap) and with the sturdy included charging cable. This light is IPX8 rated so is waterproof for submersion for limited time. The manual includes all specs for various output and throw distances, which tops out at 2000 lumens at an impressive 269 meters, which is great for a compact light that only weighs 120 grams. All in all, this is a great option for a fully featured compact tactical light priced for good value. What Customers Talk About
