"Very disappointing. I would give it 2 stars because it will detect the presence of voltage....although not very well!I recently misplaced my Southwire brand non-contact tester, and so I thought that I would try one of these new testers with all the bells and whistles. Well, I'm not impressed!Starting with the power button, if you want the device/tester on, it requires a long-press of the power button. If you want it off, however, it does not. An accidental bump of the button, and your tester is off. If you just want to use the flashlight, guess what you have to do first? That's right. You must first power-on the tester, and then power-on the flashlight.?! That seems like a waste of time, energy, patience, etc, etc. It's a flashlight. Let's not overcomplicate this.Next, we have the multifunction screen that seems to show everything except Netflix. It glows in one of two colors (red or green), depending on the situation. Also, on the screen is a bar graph and an associated percentage that really is more show than go. By this I mean to say that when the tester appears to detect the presence of voltage, the bar graph increases along with the percentage, but this information is really meaningless when even direct contact with an exposed live wire doesn't provided a full-scale indication.Hold on, it gets better. It's selectivity is....well....non-existent. In the presence of a few "hot" and "neutral" wires, this device is completely incapable of distinguishing one from the other. My Southwire tester handles this with relative ease, even through a jumble of loose wires, it can weave through them to accurately pinpoint which wires are "hot" and which are not. It also has the distinct ability to specifically and selectively determine where a "hot" wire is, relative to the ground and neutral wires encased directly next to it in a jacketed cable. It can be trusted to provide information relative to your safety and well being. That is not the case with this non-contact tester.I am not new to this. I am not a DIY'er. I do electrical work for living, and I know what features to look for. This rating is not because I feel duped. I seriously would not recommend this device to anyone."
