"I know I’m being nitpicky, but so many little things irked me.. I don’t want to list them all, but by far the biggest thing was how Ari spoke. “I turned on some Tay-Tay”, “now we’re besties”.. is Ari a 17 year old girl? I’m sorry, I just couldn’t get past that.. it was such an annoying turn off!I couldn’t finish the book.. I really tried! I got to about 40% until I decided I was throwing in the towel. Besides all of the little nitpicky things, the story was just ok. It had potential, but the writing matched that of a preteen book, and not an adult romance novel."

Another Addictive, Protective MMC!Ari. Just… ARI.Another dark, possessive, protective MMC and I ate this up…
Another Addictive, Protective MMC!Ari. Just… ARI.Another dark, possessive, protective MMC and I ate this up from start to finish. The lengths he goes to for her?? The way he decides she’s his and then fully commits to that energy?? Absolutely unhinged in the best possible way. He’s intense, dominant, fiercely protective — but still manages to show depth and vulnerability underneath it all.And the humour! I did not expect to laugh as much as I did. The text messages with the guys were hilarious and added such a good balance to the darker, possessive vibe. I genuinely laughed out loud more than once. The chemistry was strong, the tension was there, and the protective energy was top tier. If you love dark, possessive hockey MMCs who will go to extreme lengths for their girl but still have banter with the boys, this one is for you.Another brilliant addition to the series — I’m officially obsessed.jools

This is the second book in this series and is Ari's story.Like book one this story has dark elements which could be triggers for some. This include, possessive/obsessive behaviour, self-hating, self harm, eating disorders, trauma from parental deaths, controlling adoptive parents and more.Although I enjoyed this story, if its themes are likely to be triggers, be kind to yourself and don't read it.Ari is the NHL star defence for the Dallas Knights team. He confides in his best friend Lincoln, but other than that he guards his past showing the world a carefree Hockey star who the ladies adore.Layla meets Ari when she is ten years old and after her parents death is forced to live in a children's group home. Ari is the only light for her and when she is adopted after only a few months, she is forced to leave him behind, but she never forgets him,Ari has never forgotten his beautiful Layla and after searching for years for her, he finally sees her face on an advertising billboard and knows he has to locate her and ensure he never loses her again.First part of his plan is a trade to the LA Cobras from his beloved Dallas Knights, so he can at least be in the same city as her.Although Ari’s obsessive 'stop at nothing until he gets his girl' approach is heartening, the all consuming possessive behaviour is scary to Layla (aka Blake) and her flashbacks of not being good enough hold her back from him.Despite their years apart, the longing to be together is strong in both characters, and comes through the words on the page drawing us in to their all consuming love. Reading about their journey, and their unconditional love, is emotional - so be prepared.Blake has to dig deep when she reaches her darkest places and this is helped by having Ari's love and strength to lean on. Seeing Blake thrive and become the strong, confident woman she was always meant to be keeps the paging turning easily, along with Ari's journey of discovery. The bromance between Ari and Lincoln continues throughout this book, and is still hilarious, which helps to lighten the dark themes in this story.Although each book is a standalone in this series, I would recommend reading them in order as characters from each re-appear and it helps the reader understand the relationship and dynamics of the Hockey team and their significant others, which I believe will add to the enjoyment of the books.jackie

I absolutely adore Ari & Blake’s story! It was an emotional rollercoaster at times while Blake learned to deal with her Demons & the strength of Ari’s love as well as the lengths he was prepared to go to to keep her. Their relationship was intense and all consuming and let’s face it who doesn’t want their partner to be obsessed with them. I loved how funny Ari was and it brought a lightness to the book. Brilliant read!jayme white

This is the fourth book of C.R Jane’s that I have read now, I started with The Wrong Quarterback (if you’ve not read that, what are you doing?!).Each book has me completely gobsmacked at the twists. There are some very dark themes, but the comedy of the friendships and the god complexes helps you through. This book explored themes that many of us will be able to relate to as women, especially those of us with toxic mothers. It was written sensitively and realistically.Ari Lancaster, for all his faults, adores the very ground Blake walks on and he would do anything (literally anything) to keep her happy and HIS.victoria picciano

Well. Well. Well. Ari Lancaster… what can I say? Obsessed with Blake when he sees her on a billboard/ he’d recognise her anywhere.. they’d been in the same children’s home as kids and he’s known when first meeting her she was for him. He’d never stopped looking for her so when he sees his chance all these years later he takes a last minute trade to LA to make her his.Ok so parts of this books may be triggering for some - there is a cheating trope… but.. as Blake’s boyfriend isn’t really talked about other than he a nice guy who her adopted parents sort of set her up with, who she isn’t happy with and keeps up pretences with, I can look over it for just the added piece of plot it is. And also because I’m a die hard romantic and soulmates being reunited after a second chance is totally my thing. 🤭Yes it’s unhinged and totally RED FLAG CENTRAL.. yes Ari is just as twisted obsessed as his bestie Lincoln, but I can help but love all the far fetched nonsense that he gets up to and it only makes me love him more!Blake really needed time to realise how deep her love for Ari was after she found out that he’s manipulated his way back into her life., but once she was there- she was all in!I mean you would be mad if your boyfriend who you’d just found out had tricked you into dating him, took you to Vegas drunk, bought you a huge diamond and married your over night? Enough said. 🤣🤣Excited to deep dive into Walker ‘Disney’ Davis next!5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️evelyn 194
