"I am NOT new (12 YEARS and TWO other brands) to the home camera arena for sure. I came to notice how many models of the Tapo’s there were. I then dove in and figured what was best for me. One of my criteria was that it didn’t force cloud storage and subscription service on you, an SD card would be all you need. It also had to have Motion and Sound detection, and higher resolution than what I was used to was an extra treat.I decided upon the indoor/outdoor Tapo C120’s knowing they would be for indoor use as all my others in the past were. This gives me an option to move any outdoors if I ever had a need. I use a couple of them, instead of being outdoors, on windowsills or on door glass pointing outside. So that you know, if you plan to use in this way, you can not have night vision on. You would get a glass reflection of the night vision sensors. This way has worked fine for me for every model in my past 12 year line-up, as long as there is a porch light, street light, entry door light, some kind of light you are fine. There were several incredible, unexpected surprises after I installed 4 of these. The image quality is amazing, super sharp and clear. The App is super fast and responsive compared to my old... You can easily and instantly swipe between cameras, or just as swiftly look at recorded events (alarms). You can even put the camera’s in grouped batches of 4-up on a screen together. The flexibility in mounting options make it super easy to put wherever you would like. I am amazed at the difference and how far the technology has come in such a short time. Oh and did I say the price is a fraction of all the other I purchased in the past ? I can buy four Tapo C120’s for the price of ONE of either of my old brands.Right now I am running all 4 Tapo’s remotely in another home and plan to purchase more for primary home and do away with my older inferior brand. My situation was kind of unique and I had some questions, so I reached out to Technical Support. I have to give a shout out to Cliff as my main Technical Support contact. The team went over and above any expectations I ever could imagine from a support standpoint.I have passed my knowledge onto friends and family about these, as you can’t beat these cameras all in all. The price point, the quality, no nagging monthly bills, you can’t go wrong ! Tiny investment with a huge bang for your buck. I am not writing this review for promotional purposes or any of the such…. I am writing it because when I come across a stand-out product and customer service together, I want to tell my story for others."

Nice little camera. Easy to get going once the app is downloaded. What I like is the easy ability to turn the camera off for when the area is occupied. Good clean video with audio. A good value.

We switched all our cameras over to Tapo and could not be happier. Better storage, better app for viewing, better sound and video quality. They work great outdoors- a few weeks ago it was -26 with a windchill putting it at -55 at our house and they worked great the whole time. They last well, don't have issues with breaking due to being outside, and all around great addition to our home security.

A Fantastic Security Camera With Outstanding ValueThe Tapo 2K+ Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera has exceeded every expectation I had. For the price, the performance is honestly impressive. The 2K+ resolution delivers crisp, detailed video both day and night, and the night vision is far clearer than what I’ve seen from other cameras in this range. Faces, license plates, and small details are easy to make out, which gives real peace of mind.Setup was refreshingly simple—Tapo’s app walks you through everything step-by-step, and I had the camera up and running in minutes. The app itself is clean, responsive, and packed with useful features like customizable motion zones, smart alerts, and two-way audio that actually sounds good.I also appreciate the flexibility: it works indoors or outdoors, handles weather without issues, and supports both cloud storage and local storage via microSD. Not being forced into a subscription is a huge plus.Motion detection is accurate without being overly sensitive, and the notifications arrive quickly. The camera’s wide field of view covers a lot of space, so one unit goes a long way.Overall, the Tapo 2K+ is a reliable, high-quality security camera that punches way above its price point. If you’re looking for something easy to use, feature-rich, and dependable, this one is absolutely worth it.---If you want, I can also tailor this review to a specific tone—more casual, more technical, shorter, funnier, or optimized for Amazon’s algorithm.

For the price I think these cameras are pretty awesome. The expensive part was getting memory for each camera. I also bought extension cables for some depending on placement. They have a fair amount of features that are useful. You also have control over them. The company does offer a service similar to competitors cameras. I went with the memory on each instead. Memory is detected and sets up by itself. I have had mine for almost 2 years. Very few problems. The problem I did have was with the extension cable going out. I would recommend for DIY’ers.

Having used other Wi-Fi cameras including Google Nest cams (and much more expensive pro & semi-pro security hardware), as well as having a career in electronic & broadcast engineering, I think I’m uniquely qualified to give this a fair unbiased review!First off it’s phenomenal for the money. Better resolution and more features than previous generation Nest cameras for a fraction of the price. While the hardware is seemingly not as durable as some competitors, at this price they’re more or less disposable! There was one surprise for me that everyone should be aware of (that if I had done a little research, I probably would have figured out before purchasing on a whim during Amazon prime days)!Unlike other services I have used, when you use the TAPO app (which I paid for a years worth upfront for 4 cams) just be aware it only streams live, and then records segments to the cloud when there is motion detected. If you want to record continuously, every cam has to have an SD card installed. The app then uses the memory locally on the SD card to playback segments (but of course is limited by the memory of the card). Then like other systems (and dash cams), it just starts rewriting over older video/audio.The app is very intuitive and functional although I would like to be able to monitor all cameras at once (which may be possible as I’ve only played with it a couple of days). Installation was a breeze and simple. Very intuitive for non-tech people.Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the performance &bfeatures.Time will tell about durability and I’m sure their app will probably get some upgrades over time. A very competitive product. I would’ve given it five stars if for the $119 for a year of 4 camera service, it would record continuously into the cloud. That way, if you have a break-in the cameras are destroyed, the full recording is remotely saved.

I’m a huge fan of Tapo cameras and now have 7 C-120/121, 3 C211 and 1 C216. I’ve been wanting to try out Eufy, Kasa, Reolink but kept adding more Tapo based on my positive experiences. Plus, by keeping to one brand it’s easier maintaining them all in a single app.At some point I may consider PoE but these Wifi cameras have performed flawlessly with my fiber internet connection. So based on my 2+ month experience with Tapo cameras, here are my tips/suggestions:Exterior camera color:I realize that white is the most popular color and that’s what I bought initially but the problem with white is that it sticks out. Whether tabletop or wall/ceiling mounted a white camera is more easily noticed than a black one. Initially that would not be a concern for most people because they are looking primarily at functionality and white happens to look nice. However, once you get past the surveillance aspect and have visitors who notice the cameras and may feel uncomfortable that’s when you begin to think about ideal placement. And let’s be perfectly clear: most folks have no interest in clandestine recordings. Our cameras are are for nighttime security and for when there’s no one present. While at home we keep them in privacy mode. So where there’s a choice, seriously consider black cameras since they are easier to work with and offer more discreet placement options around decorations/plants etc.Invisible Nighttime IR:One of the best features of the C120 / C121 camera is the option to choose a night vision setting that completely eliminates the red dots or any other light that gives away the camera location at night. I believe there is only one other Tapo camera that features this option so if that’s important to you and especially if you are using it in a nursery this is the camera to get. To change the default night vision setting to invisible IR navigate to Video & Display under Device Settings and select Night Vision. Ensure Night Boost is selected and Click on Viewing Distance. There you will see two options: Near View and Far View. The default setting is Far View which shows the red dots at night. Instead, select Near View and the camera will switch to invisible infrared while still preserving excellent black/white night vision resolution.Notification Speed/Accuracy:Of the Tapo cameras I used I found that C120 / C121 performed the best. What amazed me the most was a there was a small sliver at the end of the driveway that I selected in the camera's detection zone and it sensed motion from nearly 50 feet away in that zone. Quite impressive! Also, notifications are sent almost instantaneously to my phone, which is quite remarkable, especially on the C120/121.PTZ (panning/tilt/zoom):After initially acquiring several TC121 cameras I decided to try out the PTZ camera and ordered a C211 half expecting to return it. To my amazement the image quality both during the day and night was very good, especially at night. In some ways the nighttime resolution was better on this camera (and C216 which I purchased most recently but in retrospect should have gotten its black brethren, the C217…). The C211 offered great resolution for near and far and the C216 was even better for near but not so much for distance at night. I have the C216 in a small room and was blown away by how vibrant and clean the image looks at night.Initially I thought I would be utilizing the PTZ feature to its full extent but eventually found that I preferred one fixed setting as opposed to continually panning around or tracking a subject. Unless you’re using it to track a pet it can be unnerving if someone were to see that the camera is fixated on their every move. If it wasn’t for the excellent night vision image quality, I would have returned the C211 and C216 and acquired another C121. The C121 image quality is excellent during the day with nicely saturated colors and quite good at night inside the home. I have a couple of C120/121 mounted outside, and they have performed flawlessly including one positioned inside a window looking out. It continues to amaze me how well it can detect motion of people / cars from outside the window and provide near-instant notifications to my phone. And the image quality is excellent, even better than a so-called window camera I bought from another manufacturer and later returned. Of course, you would need to switch the camera from Auto to Day mode to cut out glare at night. I believe the starlight sensor in this camera is what allows it to render great resolution with minimal light even under this use-case scenario.Another great feature of this camera is the wide field of view, wider than any of my other Tapo cameras. Once I came to the realization that a fixed view is what I preferred out of my security cameras naturally it naturally made sense to have the widest view available for maximum coverage and that is another area where the C120/121 shines. Adding to that the easy placement options which incl
