"The media could not be loaded. Coco and Coir charcoal briquettes, I'd never heard of them before, and if like me you're an all season BBQ fanatic then I expect you have the usual top quality bags of charcoal briquettes and lump wood that you faithfully us, and only use, am I close?Well, when I was offered this 5kg bag of Coco and Coir charcoal briquettes to try out and review I was more than happy to do so, but at the same time I was a little sceptical on how it would perform. So, these briquettes are slightly smaller than the Weber variety but do look the same and feel the same when handling, but I did find that with this bag my hands didn't get as dirty when handling them.I used a chimney to start them off with three natural firelighters underneath, they took about the same amount of time to become ready for the grill as my other briquettes, around 20 minutes, so a good start. One thing to note, is that they burn with far less smoke than my other briquettes and there was no hint of a chemical smell that I sometimes get with the other variety.Once going they burn with a very good heat and they keep this heat for a long time and I found them quite easy to control heat wise using the vents on the grill, really happy with that. So, I like cooking big bits of meat and I tried these briquettes to cook a large rump steak, I like to cook my steaks hot and fast so to get a good sear on the outside and then let them rest for a good 15 minutes till medium rare. And the performance of these briquettes was outstanding, way better than the briquettes I normally use as the heat they generated was spot on for a fast and quick cook, and I actually think I could getaway with using less briquettes on my steak cook.Shutting the vents off afterwards ensured that the briquettes cooled and can be used again, they do actually have an orange ash around them compared to the light grey on the other type of briquettes but this does come off with a gentle shake.I have yet to try them on a low n slow cook over a very long period, which I normally use lump wood for, but I think the outcome will be just as good.So yes, I am converted, these for me are really are great briquettes and I will be getting more, that's for sure."

These briquettes are very regular, burn hot and long and don't make much smoke. They are definitely harder to light than the usual stuff but some fluid and a cordless lilo inflater make short work of them. Nice product that we like.beneteau

I've been using Coco BBQ charcoal for a while and love this bag - it seems pretty good quality and is way less smokeless than the standard stuff. It does take a while to get going but once there, it lasts longer (I think - my other half disagrees).Good quality and not bad price either. Highly recommend to all.angep

This, coconut shell, charcoal instantly looks different.Presented in a sturdy cardboard bag, with a sewn string fastening, it's much cleaner than I expected. The briquettes feel of a more standard size and there's very little dust evident in the bag. Each piece is lightweight and of a suitable size to use in any barbeque, big or small.Good old British weather means that I've not had the chance to light these yet but I can already tell that they'll have a cleaner burn; less smoke, which has to be a massive bonus. The bag contains 5kg of briquettes and at £14.99, at time of review, feels like decent value.I'll update this review once I've cooked with these but first impressions are very positive and it altogether seems like a cleaner and greener way of fuelling my barbeques.nathan coles

I recently tried these coconut shell briquettes for my BBQ, and I’m impressed. They light up easily and burn consistently, giving off even heat for grilling. The fact that they produce less ash is a big plus, making cleanup a breeze. I appreciate that they’re made from sustainable coconut shells and contain no additives, so I feel good about what I'm cooking with. They work well in my grill, whether it's for a casual cookout or a bigger barbecue. Definitely a great choice for eco-friendly grilling.siltone

Although these took slightly longer to get going than charcoal, I was very pleased with how they performed. Once hot, they did a great job of supplying the required heat to cook our food on the barbecue. A big plus for me is that they’re virtually smokeless - a big, big plus in my book! Given their quality, the generous quantity in the bag, and the reasonable price, I’m happy to recommend this product. 👍What Customers Talk About
