"I replaced my refrigerator’s water filter about six months ago, so I figured I would be looking for a new one fairly soon and ordered these replacements. My mistake. Long story, short: they work (eventually), but I am not using them.Flashback to replacing the filter with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) filter:Step 1: remove used filterStep 2: insert new filter; reset water filter settings on front of fridgeStep 3: empty about a quart of water from the water dispenser to bleed air; minor sputtersStep 4: enjoy filtered water and ice for 8-10 monthsFlash forward to installing these filters:Steps 1-2: same although these filters do not fit as flushStep 3: attempt to bleed air through the water dispenser which is super violent comparatively until about the 3rd or 4th sputter when the dispenser exploded water all over me, the floor and the fridge creating a huge messStep 4: don’t be a quitter and try again this time getting gray water that had me gaggingStep 5: keep going until the gray goes away and I get super oxidized water: water filled with air bubbles so it is not clear and likewise ickyStep 6: run more than a gallon of water through until I get clear water; it smells ok but I am not going to taste it because, ughStep 7: according to the instructions I have to empty 2 full buckets of ice made through this filter. What? I have two ice makers: one for the door dispenser and another in the freezer. What bucket am I emptying? Oh, and why? I’m not keen to go 2-3 days without ice.Recycling these and ordering my OEM filters which are way more expensive, but I don’t have to worry about giving my family gross water and ice."
