I have an adjustable bed that is a split king, comprised of two twin xl mattresses pushed together. I sleep on the right side with a 4” memory foam mattress pad, which makes my side of the bed even higher. My husband prefers the firm mattress and doesn’t want additional padding so there is a noticeable height discrepancy, but this comforter makes it less obvious.We chose the gray color and it’s a nice dark but that will match any decor and hides our dog’s black hair pretty well. My big ol’ pitbull likes to sleep at the foot of his mama’s bed and I am a pushover and allow it. I just can’t say no to that sweet face.The comforter is long enough to hide the under-the-bed storage containers although it doesn’t reach the floor on both sides, it’s pretty darned close. My bed is unusually high so I am happy because it’s much better looking than the standard king quilt we were using and provides plenty of coverage as my and I both tend to sleep at our respective edges. If you are an edge sleeper, you’ll know there just isn’t enough coverage with a standard size cover. This solves that problem for us.I didn’t notice any smell right out of the package, but I wanted to wash it anyway before putting it on the bed. It completely filled my front loader washing machine but came out clean when washed in cool water on a normal cycle. Drying time took a while. I had to run it through 3 drying cycles and readjust the comforter after each cycle. Something this big takes a while and that is to be expected. Next time I might throw a few tennis balls in there to speed up the drying time. It came out of the dryer looking pretty good, with minimal wrinkles.The material is very soft to the touch and the stitches are even and look like they will hold up to repeated washings. This comforter is made of 100% polyester so it’s much warmer than the cotton quilt we have been using. I was kicking around the idea of getting a flannel sheet set for the winter, but now that we have this warm comforter, it’s no longer necessary. It’s almost too warm for us most of the year as we live in a subtropical climate. I will be using it for the colder months so I’m happy to have it.This is a good value for the price. It’s much warmer than a cotton quilt and washes up beautifully. Definitely a solid choice!stephanie nelms
