"The ice trays have a strong chemical smell (did not expect this), and I’ve noticed tiny film-like substances in my drinks that appear to be coming from the ice cubes. Not sure if the trays have some residue that is sticking to the ice. I have washed these trays multiple times with warm/hot water and Dawn dish soap but the strong smell still lingers. I only use 365 bottled spring water to fill the trays. I should have returned these when I could."

I bought these trays after our plastic trays cracked even though we didn't have them for a very long period of time. I wanted to get the old-fashioned metal trays like we had when I was a kid, but they're beyond our budget so I focused on these silicone trays which tout a longer life and durability. They come in a pair, and although they produce cubes that are a little smaller than the typical ice cube tray, the ice capacity yields more cubes (15) per tray so it kind of evens out. The smaller size is nice for limited freezer space. The trays are easy to fill and the silicone lids keep water from spilling out while taking to the freezer and allow the trays to be stacked on top of one another. I got the "Bamboo Green" color and it's a lovely color. Since my husband is a daily ice water drinker he will be using these trays the majority of the time and they have received his seal of approval. I'm sure we're going to have these trays longer than the old ones.mellie
