"This kit has everything one needs for spouting seeds, and is especially valuable in areas like mine with a shorter growing season. I have seeds that require a minimum soil temperature to germinate, so the heating pad is essential. The grow lights give control over how much light you want, but I expect to only use it at full brightness so that feature is less useful. The timer function however is essential so you don't have to remember to turn it on and off everyday. It can only be set for 4, 8, or 12 days each day with the starting time each day of when you first start the timer. The dome is around 4 inches tall, so you'll need to remove it when plants get to that height, or move the plants outdoors.The one thing I don't like is the seed tray. It's very thin plastic that won't take much abuse before cracking, and transplanting the plants will be difficult because there isn't a way to easily pop the dirt out like some trays with a flexible bottom. And since it's all one tray, it can't be simply tipped to the side to slide it out.As far as the value goes, it seems a little pricey due to the low quality seed tray, but the lights and heating pad can be used with any other seed trays you might have, so at least part of the kit should last a while."
