"I bought one of these 3 1/2 yrs ago. I really found it useful so purchased another about a yr later. One remains attached to one of my pc towers; the other is attached to a Beelink SEi 12 used as a Plex Media Server. Even though it's not supposed to be necessary, I always powered off a dock before switching drives. For the server, I had a 16TB WD Gold and a 4TB WD black. Everything seemed to go well until about a month ago. I couldn't access the 16TB drive. It showed up as unallocated and the drive had changed from GPT to MBR. The drive itself showed no issues. I attached it to my W11Pro pc; reformatted it using GPT then replaced the wiped files. The PC read the files without issue. I reinserted it into the dock, but changed slots with the 4TB drive--which was correctly accessed through the second slot (former 16TB slot). The 16TB drive again showed up as unallocated in the alternate slot; MBR. I repeated the recovery procedure but changed docks. The incident repeated itself in the second dock. After the 3rd format/recovery, I tried it in a single HDD enclosure. No problem. I placed it into the second slot on the second dock--wipe. After reading too much about it while troubleshooting, I came to see others had experienced the same, but only with larger storage units. I put the contents of the 16TB drive on a 12TB drive; inserted into one dock--no problem; into second dock, no problem. The 12TB drive has been working for several weeks since it was utilized. As it took several years for the glitch to show up for the 16TB/dock issue, I may not know for years longer if the 12TB drive will be affected. I am posting this review as a caution for people using high capacity drives. Based on my research, my situation is not a one-off. Beyond that, the dock has done a great job of attaching to virtually everything I've tried: a cheap Samsung Blu-ray player; Fire Cube; Nvidia Shield, and 3 different PC's. Until the HDD wipe, I would have given the dock a 5 star review."

I'm impressed with this docking station. It made the transfer of files fast and smooth. Setup was easy, no hassle. The 3.5" drive fits perfectly. The dual bay option is great to access two drives at once. So far this is fast, reliable and incredibly convenient.

Works great! Compact, lightweight. Fits conveniently on a shelf of my desk and runs well. I got this when I switched from Windows to a Mac mini, and I wanted to keep using the internal SATA drives I had on my Windows. I did need to copy and reformat from NTFS to APFS, but this was very easy to do and pretty quick (I had 50,000+ files and they copied over in about 20 minutes). I used my computer for copying as I didn't have a completely blank drive to clone, but this device does allow cloning through the hardware (no computer required) if needed.I don't feel any heat coming from it at all.Perfect for adding storage to Macs, which notoriously come with practically no storage space.

Wish I could give more feedback on cloning but haven't tried yet.I did dig out some old hard drives to look what was still on them, and thought my computer had locked up butafter some research got that fixed, Windows security needed some adjustments, works great now. NOTE: I am running a older PC

Recognizes SATA 3.5 in HDD in both slots, exposes drive SMART functionality for both slots, and doesn't bottleneck HDD 7200 rpm throughput. Didn't test with SSD because didn't have any spare one available.
