"This is a review on the installation ONLY, I have not tested the functionality at this time. I will update the review once I've fully tested. However, there was some issues on installation. The FlexCage is 5.25" wide, like it should be - BUT if your Case has slide rails for individual 5.25" drives, you will have issues. Please see my pictures. I had to pound down the metal tabs inside the case BEFORE the Icy Dock would even slide into the case. It's just something to be aware of. Hopefully this Icy Dock works, otherwise I just ruined my case. Once I got the rails bent over, the FlexCage slide right in and secured with the 4 screws. Looks good once installed. Lets hope it works.3 year Update: well this thing has been going for 3 years like a champ with no issues. But finally this week, one of the drives stopped powering up. It appears to be the little blue power button won’t stay on. So I have a toothpick stuck into the side of the little button to keep it depressed in. Technically it’s working now. I’ll let it go this way for awhile and see what happens before I decide what to do or replace the whole dock."

Works great. The latching mechanism could be slightly better and the on/off buttons are kind of small but that might be a good thing. Overall very happyc anderson

I just love this thing. I have it mounted in the lower cage of am Antec 900. My ATX motherboard SATA connectors point towards the front of the case making things a little tight but it all fits. Installing and removing hard drives is a snap. I also bought the adapter for an SSD and that is also a snap. A little pricey but Icy Dock is offering a $20 rebate through the end of September 2017.shawn m fortier

Arrived as advertised. I am using 4 drives and they remain only slightly warm. I did put it in a configuration that left a space in the middle to help with airflow but I'm not certain it was needed or really helps that much. Loading drives was easy. The only odd part about the system is that each drive has an on/off button and it's default position is off so when booting my controller for configuration the first time it was not seeing any drives. With four pushes of the button this problem was solved. The buttons are easy to hit though so if you are using this for an array in a production environment that could be easily bumped into you might occasionally lose drives to them being accidentally turned off. Otherwise a great product!helga seifert

The upgrade to the door hinges is substantial compared to earlier versions. This is my second unit I have purchased for my raid arrays. Cooling for large drives with the 80mm fan still not adequate, 43-45C temps idle, 47-48C temps when moving massive files. 3D printed a 80mm to 120mm fan adapter, idle temps 34-35C, load temps 36-37C. Great enclosure for the money with a $18.00 fan upgrade. Will definitely buy another.bob s

It fit perfectly into an older HP Z400 Workstation that I was converting into a small media server. I installed 2 6GB harddrives into 2 of the bays and everything works fine for my purposes. If i was frequently going to be inserting and removing drives I would be a little concerned about the sturdiness of the latch mechanism, but for my purposes it works fine. What Customers Talk About
