"I almost made it worst with this kit... Still giving it 5-stars, cuz it was my mistake.I never used one of these before, so after watching number of videos on YouTube, I thought I knew exactly how to do it! What could go wrong you wonder..? Well, when screwing the coil, one of the loops jumped one over for some stupid reason..!! So when I started tightening that bolt, oh man... It was a hell of job, taking that whole thing out... I rethreaded it again and next time I really checked the loops and guess what, same thing happened! After another 2 tries, I was able to get all the threads seating correctly and could complete the job nice and tight!My biggest advice to all! Check the coil after you insert it, before screwing the bolt in!!! Other then that, awesome way to fix stripped threading! Would recommend!"

e-z lok thread inserts are really well-made and work great.they have variations in their kits.. some that include the required drill bit and or the pin punch or not. and the other variable is the depth of the insert: 1x 1.5x or 2x the diameter of the insert. so, make sure you have what you need. Any pin punch that will fit can be used so there's no need to buy a kit that includes that. You can also search for what drill you need and buy that separately if you need it.Finally, note that the tap included in this kit is an STI tap, which means it's not the same size as the insert's end result. Example: if you have the 1/2" insert, the tap isn't a a 1/2" tap, it's bigger because it has a hole that the 1/2" insert fits in. The insert is 1/2" on the INSIDE and its outside diameter is obviously larger. that' what "STI" means.vlad

The thread-tapping tool fit readily in the thread-tapping handle I already owned (the kit doesn't include that component) and the blue-handled tool made it easy to correctly install the helical insert. And the repair to the housing of my high-speed router is holding well.The final test is how well the helical insert stays in place. But if it doesn't stay put, one can use a thread-locking compound between the insert and housing.jared

I ordered the M14-1.5 (1.5D/21mm length) economy kit, but similar to another reviewer, received a kit which contained a different size set. Mine was labeled as ordered, but contained the parts for a 1/2-20 (1D/14mm) kit, which I determined by both tap imprint and comparison both to the bolt to be installed and a thread pitch image from the Bolt Depot fastener tools PDF (make sure to print at 100% scale). Note that you have to stretch the coils to match the pitch image if you want to measure: they do not arrive expanded to length at rated pitch.In the attached image, the left kit is the first received, the right kit is the replacement. Clearly different contents.Since I needed this item for a repair this week and it was out of stock at Amazon, I reached out to E-Z Lok directly to see if they could help. They responded within a few hours and shipped me a replacement kit with the correct items the same day via Next Day Air. They even included a Certificate of Conformance (asserting that the shipped item matched the ordered item).I'm delighted that E-Z Lok stood by their product, and my oil pan is now back in business with a solid thread repair after the drain bolt hole had been stripped during previous ownership: an aftermarket Dorman toggle bolt plug had been there when I bought this vehicle used, and it was starting to leak). I've used the smaller E-Z Lok kits (smaller threads) with success but this larger 14MX1.5 kit had a poorly made tap that wouldn't start even with the proper sized hole in my VW crankcase oil drain. Upon close inspection the starting threads at the flutes of the tap seemed dull. I tested on a scrap piece of 3/8 aluminum and was able to get the tap started but it gouged the hole pretty badly. Would have ruined the engine crankcase if I had proceeded. Had to return kit but didn't get another for fear of the poor quality tap.
