"There’s not one good word to be found about this telescope in the astronomy forums. That said, owning this telescope is certainly an education for a beginner e.g. polar alignment of the equatorial mount, understanding the setting circles for R.A, balancing a telescope, using the slow-motion controls, collimation of the mirrors, etc.In my opinion the telescope is good value for the price. Yeah, it uses a bird-jones design with a corrector lens to correct spherical aberration, but I have to say it produces some good results when coupled with good eyepieces. The focal ratio (f/8) makes it a good all rounder for looking at the moon, planets, and deep space objects.Collimation isn’t impossible with this telescope as most people say - you will need to remove the corrector lens from the focuser before laser alignment. I have found the focuser to be sloppy i.e. it does not sit firmly in the focuser tube making collimation difficult. However, you can use more teflon strips in the focuser tube to fix this problemThe mount itself is pretty good, though the RA slow motion control is difficult to turn probably because the telescope is slightly too heavy for the mount. To conclude, this telescope is probably not for a beginner - it’s more suited for those that don’t mind a bit of tinkering and want to cut their teeth with an equatorial mount. Yeah, it’s not perfect, but it’s pretty good for the price and gives pleasing results."

This is probably the best Beginner's Telescope you can buy. At under £120 it is incredible value for a metal telescope tube, tripod and EQ mount. The accessories are OK, but the 3x Barlow lens is very poor and should be thrown away.Excellent for viewing the Moon and Double Stars.Good for viewing the Planets and Bright Comets.OK for viewing Bright Galaxies and Bright Nebulae.

A special birthday gift. Seems of good quality, son says it was quite easy to assemble, and looks very good. He recommends purchasing a separate filter as there is some glare when looking through at the moon. But was thrilled to receive it.
