"Die optische Leistung kann mit der sehr guten Verarbeitung nicht mithalten.Der Abstand zu deutlich billigeren Alternativen wie den Tamron 28-75 2.8 ist zu gering.Sicher gibt es Vorteile in den Randbereichen und bei harten Kontrastkanten aber keinesfalls in der Schärfe.Also nichts was einen Aufpreis von 800 € rechtfertigt.Interessant ist der Vergleich mit dem brandaktuellen Canon EF 70-200 2.8L IS II USM.Der Schärfeunterschied ist vernichtend und zeigt deutlich auf was mit modernster Optik möglich ist.Man denkt der Sensor hat die doppelte Auflösung.(Test bei 70mm 5D Mk II)Es zeigt deutlich, dass das EF 24-70 2.8 nicht mehr auf der Höhe der Zeit istund den Ansprüchen der 20 Megapixel Kameras nicht mehr gerecht wird.Hier sollte Canon in nächster Zeit dringend nachbessern.Wenn Geld kein rolle spielt eine klare Empfehlung,da, wenn auch minimal, der beste Zoom in diesen Bereich.Alle Anderen sollten lieber auf den Nachfolger wartenund sich die Zwischenzeit mit einer günstigeren Alternative vertreiben.Das gesparte Geld kann man lieber in einen anderen Berennweitenbereich (z.B. EF 17-40 4.0L)oder eine lichtstarke Festbrennweiten (z.B. EF 50 1.4 oder EF 85 1.8 ) investieren."

I procastinated for some time as to whether to buy this lens or not and I am so glad that I made the leap! It is fantastic and now I can not imagine photographing with out it. What do I love about it? Everything! It works so well in low light. I capture the shots most other lens would require "tweaking" in photoshop with. In my opinion if you get the photograph right first time it saves you hours messing around on your computer and I can spend more time doing what I love....taking photographs.This lens also has an amazng depth of field. I can blur the background on photographs taken on shoots outside and it creates an amazing variety of backdrops that are not as distracting as my clients first expect them to be.In fact there isn't really much I can say I don't like about this lens. It is a great size, not too heavy and an essential part of my professional kit.
