"We found this book in a brick & mortar book store and brought it home for our son. The book is divided into categories, the solar system, where it delves into the planets with little bits of information and rich illustrations about each planet - then it expands out to look at galaxies and types of stars. It covers space exploration and then finishes with a sweet star chart of the night sky. It is just right for a preschooler/kindergartener by being informative but not overwhelming but largely filled with rich illustrations that are not "dumbed down" for children. I really like the book and the fact that the pages fold-out so you have a lot of visual information per page (hence the "big book of stars & planet"). My son gives it a hundred on the likeability scale."

My 3.5 YO son is in love with this book, which we got at the Natural Science Museum the other day. I know some things are hard for him to comprehend, but he has us "read the whole book, Mommy" several times a day. The pictures are very nice, the pages are cardstock and it has four fold out pages - not super text-heavy but lots of information. I highly recommend it for children and it would be good for older ones, too - like up to 8 or 9. I'm learning a lot myself!
